The African Women Mobilization Commission's goal is to provide social welfare for individuals wherever AWMC has a presence. We achieve that by hosting a monthly Virtual session on WhatsApp that covers the following areas:
ABUSE & CRISIS
Our goal is to provide listening ears for those who are going through relationship abuse, mental health, or substance abuse. Such individuals will speak to a social worker who will listen to them and make referrals to the appropriate authorities to address their issues, making sure that their privacy is confidential. They may even wish to remain anonymous.
Losing someone obviously can be very traumatic and for many people in that situation, it is not always clear to them what to do, or whom to speak to and many fall into depression or may resort to violence towards themselves or to others around them. Our goal is to reach out to such individuals during the virtual session so that our social workers will be able to make appropriate care. Also, a spiritual counselor may also be an alternative that may be considered.
We advocate for healthy living by encouraging women to take responsibility for their well-being by hosting our annual health walk held on the last Saturday in April of every year. This health work is coordinated jointly in all the different.
